While it is difficult to recognize such particles with the naked eye, it is no longer possible grip even smaller microparticles using the fingers or ""normal"" aids. The nano drives from attocube ensure that researchers, using a self-developed precision joystick, can not only examine, but also grip and even move these particles.  

An international team of researchers headed by PD Stefan Thalhammer (Helmholtz Zentrum, Munich) and Prof. Mandayam A. Srinivasan (MIT – Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston), has developed a so-called micromanipulator, which transforms the movement of the human hand from the centimeter range to the micro-precise paths for a precision-gripping instrument, which can move particles of sizes between 10 and 100 μm, which is much finer than a human hair.

Scarcely imaginable: When a seagull lands on a cruise ship, the ship sinks by a nanometer. Neither the human eye nor an optical microscope can precisely measure or detect such sizes. But attocube customers can: We are developing special microscope systems, nano drives and sensor systems that open up new dimensions for our customers. And this doesn't just apply to sea travel: High-level scientific publications have been produced based on attocube products, several Nobel prize winners successfully use our solutions and industry customers from a wide range of sectors rely on our comprehensive knowledge in the smallest dimension.

The FPS3010 - a contactless optical interferometer that can define load faults and imbalances on rotary objects with sub-nanometer precision. In numerous sectors, the smallest deviations in a perfect rotationally symmetrical form can lead to lasting problems in operation. This is the case, for example. with absolute rotational symmetry of drive spindles in CNC machine tools or motor shafts in servo drives: Even sub-nanometer deviations and the smallest load faults present minimal imbalances which can generate undesirable vibrations or incorrect positioning in high-speed spindles. In order to locate and ultimately compensate for these minimal imbalances, these must be detected with a high degree of accuracy. The FPS3010 was specially developed for such applications and is already exceeding the future demands for precision.
